They come in many different designs: Flange Type O-ring, Female Threaded O-ring, and Flange Type Stat-Seal. Orifice Tube: Orifice tubes have a fixed orifice size to meter the flow of refrigerant. These are typically mounted in the evaporator inlet or the liquid line between the condenser and evaporator. The orifice tube also contains a small filter screen to capture any contaminants before entering the actual orifice opening. Bulb Type Valve: Typically a right angle (90°) valve. Normally there are two types of bulb style expansion valves, Internally Equalized & Externally Equalized. An Internally Equalized valve will have a single capillary tube that is clamped to the suction line. The Externally Equalized consists of 2 capillary tubes, one with a threaded fitting to be mounted between the evaporator and compressor on the suction side & the other clamped to the suction line (like the internally equalized type).
